FORT WORTH, Texas — Family violence arrests climbed Wednesday to 27, edging ahead of the prior day's tally even as overall bookings slipped across Tarrant County jails.

The Sheriff's Office reported 143 individuals booked Wednesday, down from 152 the day before. Drug-related charges led the day's intake for the second straight day with 43 bookings, followed by the 27 family violence cases and 22 theft or burglary arrests. Violent crime bookings totaled 18, while DWI and intoxication offenses accounted for 15.

Drug arrests outpaced the prior day's 38, driven by possession charges involving controlled substances. Eleven individuals faced charges of possessing less than one gram of a Penalty Group 1 substance, while eight were booked on allegations of possessing between one and four grams. Assault causing bodily injury in family violence settings accounted for nine bookings, and six individuals faced continuous violence against the family charges. Seven arrests involved allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, matching the DWI total for the day.

Fort Worth concentrated the day's activity with 61 bookings, down from 72 the day before but still commanding more than 40 percent of countywide intake. Arlington followed with 28, nearly double the prior day's 16. Euless recorded five bookings, while Dallas, Haltom City, and North Richland Hills each logged four. Mansfield tallied three.

Bonds posted totaled $708,750 across 85 cases Wednesday, well below the prior day's $1.6 million across 148 bonds. The average bond fell to $8,338 from Tuesday's $10,935. Parole violation charges accounted for nine bookings, a figure that typically carries no bond and contributed to the day's lower bonding rate. Felony-level charges appeared in 73 cases, while misdemeanors numbered 24 and 97 cases carried unspecified severity classifications in the intake records.

The two-day stretch marks a reversal from earlier in the week, when property crimes dominated the charge mix. Observers will watch whether family violence cases sustain their elevated pace or retreat to earlier levels as the week closes.
